Maybe you've noticed that we're now thepiratebay.SE instead of thepiratebay.ORG? The reason is two-fold. First is the issue of SOPA/PIPA/ACTA/TPP/. The United States of America have decided that they control the internet and can dictate it. This means that having a domain controlled in the end by an american entity could cause them to take control over it. So we wanted to move away from that scenario. Since we told the world some days ago that we'll phase over to Magnet links, a lot of reports is saying that TPB is not using torrents anymore. That's not really true. Hey all! Quite some time ago we decided to not host torrent files anymore. In following with that decision, we decided to make Magnet links the default option for the Download buttons! We've just changed places on the links. Magnet is now default, Download torrent is now where the magnet links used to be. The reason is the same as always: Magnets are now good enough to use, and it's not as easy to block as .torrent files. Also it saves us a huge amount of bandwidth! So go ahead, magnet away!
