Niqnaq (14.02.2012 06:49h): ‘advice’ means ‘advisors’, which means special forces, which are there anyway

Cameron and Sarkozy to discuss help for Syrian rebels Patrick Wintour, Guardian, Feb 13 2012 Cameron and Sarkozy are to meet in Paris on Friday to discuss a possible increase in help to Syrian rebels, including giving them military advice. The two are likely to discuss what practical help they can give the Free Syrian Army, and how best to progress ideas for a UN-Arab League peacekeeping force. [Link] [Cache]

Niqnaq (14.02.2012 06:35h): an amusing snippet of fantasy from an otherwise dreary disinfo piece

In Debbie’s world, the holy warriors are riding across the dunes on camels, waving their scimitars, and behind the first range of dunes are some Iraqi Shi’ites with Lee Enfields, then behind the second range of dunes are some Syrian Shi’ites with Gatlings, but they can be bought off with greasy rolls of baksheesh, or possibly gems from King Solomon’s mines. The helicopter has not been invented yet, and even if it had, the holy warriors would be too superstitious to go anywhere near it – RB Saudis prompt Al Qaeda-Iraq move to Syria extract DEBKAfile, Feb 13 2012 DEBKAfile’s ... Niqnaq (14.02.2012 06:16h): delhi: she drove to the embassy; tiblisi: he heard something while driving

All this becomes more absurd in the cold light of the morning after. If the Delhi woman drove to the embassy in her car after it was bombed, then it can hardly have been much of a bomb. If the Tiblisi driver heard something under his car, then it can’t have been very professionally attached. IRNA seems to have got its facts wrong when it says “The embassy car exploded in a ball of flames in central New Delhi, injuring a 42-year-old female embassy employee and her Indian driver who was pulled from the wreckage by bystanders, police and witnesses ... Niqnaq (14.02.2012 05:27h): all the hallmarks… um … terror masters … remind me

Syrian defector: Assad using chemical weapons Elior Levy, Ynet, Feb 13 2012 Security forces loyal to Pres Assad have been using chemical weapons against Syrian rebels under the supervision of Iranian and Russian experts, a defecting Syrian officer charged Monday. Capt Razek, who served in Syrian’s chemical warfare administration, told al-Arabiya that the Syrian military used nerve gas in order to assist forces in Homs. He added that the Syrian army’s Fourth Division and Republican Guard are expected to use chemical weapons elsewhere. Assad’s forces have access to toxins produced by Russia and a small quantity of them may cause ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:07h): Site domain moved to .se

Maybe you've noticed that we're now thepiratebay.SE instead of thepiratebay.ORG? The reason is two-fold. First is the issue of SOPA/PIPA/ACTA/TPP/. The United States of America have decided that they control the internet and can dictate it. This means that having a domain controlled in the end by an american entity could cause them to take control over it. So we wanted to move away from that scenario. Choosing which TLD to change to was the next question. We have two roots at The Pirate Bay, Mexico and Sweden. With our old friends not being granted an appeal in their case ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:07h): Year of the storm

2012 is the year of the storm. The Pirate Bay will reach an age of 9 years. Experiencing raids, espionage and death threats, we're still here. We've been through hell and back and it has made us tougher than ever. The people running the site has changed during the years. No sane human being would put up with this kind of pressure for 8 years in a row. An insane hobby that takes time from our families, our work sorry boss and our studies. What binds us all together is a strong belief that what we do is good. That ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:07h): Evolution: New category.

We're always trying to foresee the future a bit here at TPB. One of the things that we really know is that we as a society will always share. Digital communication has made that a lot easier and will continue to do so. And after the internets evolutionized data to go from analog to digital, it's time for the next step. Today most data is born digitally. It's not about the transition from analog to digital anymore. We don't talk about how to rip anything without losing quality since we make perfect 1 to 1 digital copies of things. Music, ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:07h): We\'re not the biggest in the world anymore

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): That pipe of trash that someone smoked

INTERNETS, 18th of January 2012. PRESS RELEASE, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Over a century ago Thomas Edison got the patent for a device which would "do for the eye what the phonograph does for the ear". He called it the Kinetoscope. He was not only amongst the first to record video, he was also the first person to own the copyright to a motion picture. Because of Edisons patents for the motion pictures it was close to financially impossible to create motion pictures in the North american east coast. The movie studios therefor relocated to California, and founded what we today ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): Clarification regarding torrents/magnets

Since we told the world some days ago that we'll phase over to Magnet links, a lot of reports is saying that TPB is not using torrents anymore. That's not really true. Magnets are simply another way to download the torrent. The magnet link is to the actual torrent in the p2p swarm instead of on a centralized web server. At TPB we've always believed in the decentralized world. But we also believe in what most of the worlds press write and we believe in doing prostate exams at least monthly. [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): Magnets are now default!

Hey all! Quite some time ago we decided to not host torrent files anymore. In following with that decision, we decided to make Magnet links the default option for the Download buttons! We've just changed places on the links. Magnet is now default, Download torrent is now where the magnet links used to be. The reason is the same as always: Magnets are now good enough to use, and it's not as easy to block as .torrent files. Also it saves us a huge amount of bandwidth! So go ahead, magnet away! The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): TPB to be blocked in NL - how to fix

Today, a dutch court ordered the two ISPs Xs4all and Ziggo to start blocking access to this site. Of course this is nothing new. It happens all the time that people try to shut down TPB. But mostly it's in countries like China and North Korea. As a user you can easily circumvent the censorship using TOR or getting a VPN account from someone you trust. The court has ordered that all future IPs and domain names for TPB must be blocked. So let's make this fun! If you have your own hosting somewhere, you can install a CGI Proxy. ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): TPB censored, again and again and again...

Today we learned that we're being blocked - again! Yawn. When will they give up - we're still growing despite or perhaps because all their efforts. So, if you live in Belgium or maybe work at the European Union Parliament, we have thousands of visits from them every day you should change your DNS in order to circumvent the blockage. You should do this anyhow - never trust your ISP. There are some options! One is Googles DNS system. It is fast but run by an american company. Using this one is fun, because it probably makes Google semi-responsible for ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): Internets update time.

The summer is over and we're slowly waking up to do some serious computer stuff. Putting 0's and 1's in the right order. You know, super serious hacking stuff. First off we have read on the internets that there are some new technology called the third dimension. So we added a category in the video section called... 3D! Also, apparently some people communicate to other people on other communication channels than IRC which means "internets racer chatzor", n00bs! . So we've added categories in Games and Apps for Android and iOS. That's it for today folks. Pretty soon we'll break ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): The finest hour

February 2011, MAFIAA Lobbyists began a massive attack against the European Union. Defending the union were seeds and peers of The Pirate Bay along with the Telecomix, Anons, and the Pirate parties. The MAFIAA relied on an aggressive battle plan, utilizing modern communications such as radio and telefax to direct troops in the field. The Allies, for their part, assumed a defensive posture, just as they had done at the start of World Internets War of 2003, and in many cases still relied on irc. As a result, the MAFIAA blitzkrieg caught the Allies off-guard. MAFIAA's smooth talks and bribes ... [Link] [Cache]

The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): Peace of Mind

We got a song sent to us. The song, "Peace of Mind", was written in connection with the Swedish Governments introduction of a new law in December 2010. This law says that everything in public service will be previewed by the state before getting approved. This law was added without people being properly informed, and despite strong oppositions from both politicians and key players within Swedish culture and media. Check it out on the bay! BREAKING NEWS In a bid on Auction site eBay, for the site of eBay.com itself, Pirate Bay TPB has come out as the official winner. We saw that eBay was up for sale on their own site and since we have a long going law suit against them for abuse of our trademark name "pirat ebay ", we wanted to be pragmatic and just use our immense profits to buy them. The Pirate Bay - Blog (14.02.2012 05:06h): 2011, time to update a bit

2010 was as always a nice year. TPB grew more than you would believe. We're now among the 80 biggest websites in the world! And we're not even counting how much traffic that actually means that we all use together. TPB has been going through a rough time though, with lots of people leaving and lots of new people joining. It's hard to make everything work when it's a situation like that, but now we think we've got a hang of it. We decided to update the site, just a small tad. Not much at all, but it's a start! ... Niqnaq (14.02.2012 05:05h): lots of horrid facts about british covert military activity in syria

Britain’s Secret Proxy War in Syria T J Coles, Axis of Logic, Feb 8 2012 The UK has been instrumental in consolidating relations between the disparate and isolationist opposition groups in Syria, not because the British elite want genuine democracy, of course, but because Syria’s President Assad would not acquiesce to the neo-liberal economic policies of the Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiative BMENAI . The Nation, with a suggestion: That’s why this year the lovers of the world should unite and Occupy Valentine’s Day. Romantic citizens deserve a better, more authentic and sustainable ways to express their affections—whether that be spending time with their friends and families, donating money they would spend on a romantic dinner to a domestic violence shelter, forgoing that expensive wedding for a more meaningful but less costly one. Above all, let’s find a way to honor ourselves that does not rely on buying stuff. For what it’s worth, I have zero problem with people buying each other gifts or ... [Link] [Cache]
